We don’t watch much TV, but when we do, it’s generally using the TV in the living room. We had a 55″ 1080p TV from 2012 connected to a Roku soundbar in there before, but it was off most of the time so it was just a big black rectangle taking up wall space in the room.
We rented a place that had one of these and were impressed. I managed to find a 55″ 2024 model on sale.
Installation was pretty simple except for the connection between the control box with all the HDMI ports and the screen (newer models have a wireless connection). I was able to snake the proprietary wire through the wall from behind where the screen mounts and behind the cabinet.
The user interface is a little messy but is manageable. We have another Samsung smart TV in the finished basement from 2020, and the user interface for that seems more intuitive than the interface for the Frame TV. Not sure what happened there.
I decided to subscribe to the art feed, and that’s been a lot of fun. You can also create your own galleries.
